In the blink of an eye, September is here, and we are still alive but barely breathing.
As we enter the realm of SS20 collections, some stand out more than others.
Take designer Christian Cowan, for example, who debuted the perfect medium of colorful, brilliant pieces, not for the dull. Feathers, metallics, and sequins were the stars of the show - oh, and an iconic collaboration with the renowned House of Sillage.
Down the runway walked a model draped in a crystal encrusted necklace, doubling as a luxury lipstick case, premiering one third of the niche collection. Fashion’s finest were treated to a sensory experience as House of Sillage x Christian Cowan's Passion de L’Amour masked the room. As I myself sat in a crowd of intrigued and eminent faces, I was instantly drawn to the saffron and oud notes lined with sweet tones of caramel and raspberry.
The design, smashing yet simple, is lacquered with the signature black and white checkers. The fragrance strikes with an exotic, mysterious and sensual touch.
“I met Christian Cowan at one of our events this year in New York. Although, I admire his fashion [as he’s dressed many celebrities like Cardi B, J Lo and Lady Gaga], I was most impressed with how real Christian is as a person. He is kind and sincere, with a great heart and passion for design. I felt an instant connection and realized we both had many things in common,” says House of Sillage CEO, Nicole Mather. "I created House of Sillage with a similar passion and zest for life and was unencumbered by what existed in our industry, but instead wanted to create something entirely new in the fragrance and now beauty world.”
Cowan added to the sentiment, “[We are] so wonderfully in tune with eachother’s vision. From the clothing to the bottle and fragrance, it’s truly been a collaborative process. I think people will really feel this when they experience Passion de L’Amour”
Day turned to night, runway to lounge.
The after party, hosted by Megan Pormer at Public Hotel, brought out some of beauty’s hottest names, including Nikita Dragun, Patrick Starrr, and Gigi Gorgeous. Reality stars Tyler Cameron [The Bachelor] and Miss J. Alexander [America’s Next Top Model] were also spotted amongst a crowd of good taste.
I sipped on cucumber vodka, and celebrated not only the launch of Christian Cowan x House of Sillage, but the birthday of Nicole Mather herself.
Mather, in a branded lip and Cowan designed dress, stole the show - effortlessly at that.
