PRUNE: Please introduce yourself to our audience
Hey everybody, my name is BLUE KIMBLE.
PRUNE: You are a former football player for the Arena Football League and the NFL with the Buffalo Bills. What inspired you to start acting?
Wow! Football and sports is a major part of my life, i’ve played football basketball etc. since I was a small child. Even though I was blessed and fortunate enough to play professionally, it was very short-lived. NFL literally stands for “NOT FOR LONG”. The average career of a professional football player is like two years. So you have be prepared to find something to fill the void of not participating in something that you loved doing and a lot of athletes struggle with that once it’s over. Lucky enough for me, being from ATLANTA I was able to stumble into acting and now I’m blessed that making movies has replaced not playing football for me.
PRUNE: Who would you say, inspires you in this industry?
I’m inspired by so many. The film industry is built on inspiration. So of course I have to pay homage to all the original trailblazers, like Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte all the way down to Denzel. But I’m also inspired by My peers, and everyone I aspire to be like of this generation. The Kevin Hart’s, the Michael B Jordan’s, The Chadwick Boseman‘s Etc. I feel I have to honor their accomplishments, in admiration and inspiration
PRUNE: You have been acting for a few years now and been casted in major films including The Hunger Games Catching Fire, Fast and Furious 5, BET’s The Game and Being Mary Jane just to name a few. Have you ever had an internal starstruck moment with any of the talents on set?
Yes, I have been blessed to be a part of a lot of great productions, and it is always humbling. I wouldn’t say that I was necessarily starstruck, but it’s just always a nice / funny feeling when I work with people and are now friends with actors that I grew up watching on TV etc. like working with Gabrielle union, she is so super cool and down to earth. Same thing when I met Dwayne rock” Johnson on Fast and Furious. It’s just funny that this is my life now and would have never imagined it 10 years ago. So I don’t take any of these blessings for granted.
PRUNE: You will be recurring on Starz’s Katori Hall drama, P-Valley and will be playing “Rome”. Talk to us about this role and what this show means to you.
It is an honor to be a part of this production. P-valley is going to be a great new TV show for the Starz network, as it follows up the Success of the show “power”. Katori Hall is an amazing creative talent, and I am so grateful that she chose me for this role. Rome is a Southern playa’/Music executive. He’s a businessman who represents the hip hop music industry for the show. Being that I’m from Atlanta, I was able to embody the authentic Southern hip-hop swagger needed to give this character life and we had a lot of fun filming this one. I can’t wait for you guys to fall in love with this new hit tv show.
PRUNE: How do you relate to “Rome”?
Rome is strong, he’s smart , he’s going to go after what he wants and he won’t let anyone get in his way. I can relate to a lot of those characteristics. Rome is all about his business, but sometimes he has to be conniving to stay ahead of the game, but hey, that’s the nature of the game. I love this ROME character. So glad that I got to incorporate my southern heritage into the role, because that is a huge part of who I am as well.
PRUNE: On top of your success, you also model. What is your biggest tip to someone looking to get in shape head to toe?
Being a former athlete, health and fitness is a huge part of my life. It’s become innate or second nature to me. Fitness is a state of mind, it’s a lifestyle and I encourage anyone to include it into their‘s. Everything that results from fitness are positive outcomes. Better health, confidence, self esteem, self assurance, and even a better sex life, Lol. Anyone can include a workout regimen into their life. The first step is to just become active. 30 minutes a day of doing any active activity can promote change in your body. The hardest part is starting. Everything after that will become easy.
PRUNE: If any, what would you say is the one thing football, acting and modeling have in common?
All though they are all totally different, they are so much alike. The mental preparation, the hard work, the dedication, the ability to accept failure, learn from it and turn that into WINS. All of these things are characteristics instilled in me from playing football, but they all apply to every aspect of acting and being successful in the film industry. God was preparing me for this life, but I just didn’t know Football was the training format
PRUNE: In present time, we see you are producing your own film titled “The Wish”. Talk to us about the difference between acting and producing. Any producing moments that have and will stick out?
You learn so much from acting and making movies, it’s a totally different world. The film industry is constantly evolving, and you have to evolve with it. I am a Sponge. I try to soak up as much knowledge as I can. That’s what ultimately lead me behind the camera and starting my own production company. I want to be able to contribute to the African-American Narrative, and I feel that it’s our duty as actors and creators to be able to tell our stories correctly in the right light. I look forward to creating films for this generation and the next to come.
PRUNE: Do you have any other projects coming up for 2020?
Yes, I’ve been blessed to be cast in Tyler Perry’s new hit tv show “RUTHLESS” premiering on BET next month, Season 3 of “Monogamy” is in preproduction and my own production company VIRAL PRODUCTIONS has feature films in Negotiations for 2020. So I’m blessed to say it will be good year !!!!
PRUNE: Any final thoughts you would like to share?
I am just grateful To be able to share my energy, my light and my blessings with all of you and I’m honored to have the support that I receive. I promise to always represent black excellence and I look forward to making everyone proud all 2020 to infinity.
PRUNE: Where can we follow you on socials?
My name is BLUE KIMBLE. I probably use Instagram the most, but you should be able to find me on all social platforms with my name. I try to keep it simple and consistent. I don’t have any crazy Profile names, LOL, but I love all of my supporters, so please stop by my page and show me some love. I CANT WAIT TO HEAR FROM YOU !!!!!
