C'est Yes: Winter Glow

Winter time and the skin is... dry.

I am sorry if you have oily skin and you are sick of seeing my dry skin regimen posts, I wish I could be of more help but unfortunately my face is comparable to an alligator and therefore I can only speak upon this tragedy.

I've recently switched up my skincare/makeup routine, yet again, trying to accommodate for the weather. Nobody said it was easy, but I've finally achieved what I call my winter glow.

I once won a Kiehl's giveaway, and I've been ride-or-die for the Ultra Facial Cleanser ever since. When it comes to face washes and cleansers, it's literally like Harry Potter. Your skin chooses the cleanser like the wand chooses the wizard. There is no rhyme or reason behind it, but when you find one that works for you, cherish it.

Post-wash comes toner for me. LANEIGE has a Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer, which is perfect for me. It leaves my skin feeling clean, but doesn't dry it out. Mission glow is still in full effect.

If I am feeling extra, I'll throw a mask on next, but this step only occurs two-three times a week, depending on my skin's condition, and how late I am running for wherever I may be going. There are a plethora of masks I am loving, but I am particularly drawn to Farmacy Beauty's Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask. It is so intensely hydrating and gentle on my skin, and makes my face feel like it's fresh out of a spa treatment.

Speaking of Farmacy's honey products, my next step includes two more products from the line. I mix a bit of Honey Grail Ultra-Hydrating Face Oil and Honeymoon Glow Serum together for the final touches to give my face that extra-moisturizing necessary boost. And yes, it actually does take this many steps to keep my skin hydrated.

Typically, if I have time, I'll let me face sit for a moment before putting on makeup so it can soak up all the goodness. My final skin prep step is new to the routine, and it is life changing. Glossier's Futuredew is my new holy grail, and the first product that I can say wholeheartedly works. The amount of times a brand has promised me a dewy finish with no return is infinite, but this little spectacular creation actually gives me all the glow promised. I'll typically saturate my highlighting areas most, hitting the upper cheek bones, for an incomparable luminosity.

Sometimes if I am feeling wild I'll just throw on a brow and be on my way, as my lash extensions make me feel invincible. *shoutout to Iconic Lash Lounge love you guys*

But, if I don't want to scare the public, I'll put on makeup that allows me to keep my glow on.

I use NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, which I enjoy because it still shows off my freckles and gives me the no makeup-makeup look, but still covers blemishes if need be. I'll pair it with the Radiant Creamy Concealer from NARS, and then lay it down with a VERY thin layer of Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes. Typically, powder does not equate to glow, but hydrating concealers often crease/shift, so this prevents that if done correctly.

I'll set the rest of my face, lightly, with Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder. I do this simply because I touch my face so much, and 11/10 times if I don't use a bit of powder the makeup turns from cute-ish to full disaster.

I'll typically reach for any bronzer to contour, sticking to cooler tones in winter as anything warm looks straight orange on my very very very pale skin. For blush it's back to NARS and I usually stick to a classic, Orgasm, as it adds a bit of pink sheen to my cheeks. Highlight belongs to sir Jeffree Star, or Becca Cosmetics, depending on which is closer in reach. My Becca go-to is Shimmering Skin Perfector® Pressed Highlighter in shades Champagne Pop OR Moonstone. Jeffree go-to is Skin Frost in shade Sarcophagus. I love these all because they don't leave a film, and blend into skin/makeup flawlessly.

Finish the look with an extra glossy lip, and you're good to glow. My personal favorites include Patrick Ta Major Glow Lip Shine in shade She's Expensive, NARS Oil-Infused Lip Tint in shade Orgasm, and Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip in shade Flying Horses (only $8!).

We are officially hydrated AF, and ready to take on the day. Drop your favorite skincare tips below!
