4 minutes and 31 seconds. That’s the time that it took for Maroon 5 to completely reinvent society’s age old love story and empower all women around the world.
The iconic American pop rock band’s new music video “Girls Like You” featuring Cardi B takes a sheer 2018 approach to the inclusivity and power of women by having female stars of all ages, ethnicities, body types, sexual orientations, and careers such as Ellen DeGeneres, Millie Bobby Brown, J. Lo, Ashley Graham, Camila Cabello, Gal Gadot, and Alex Morgan dance along with Adam Levine to this upbeat tune. The transparency of the filming done by director David Dobkin, who also directed the mxusic video for “Sugar”, exemplifies the love in Adam’s own life that he receives from his family and fans as well as the inspiration that these women bring to him and to the rest of us civilians. I’m not entirely sure, but it may be impossible to watch it without smiling. Are we insanely jealous of the love story curated between Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo and wish that we could live vicariously through their daughter Dusty Rose to get a first row seat to all the action? Absolutely. Needless to say, Dusty Rose is so fortunate to grow up with a father that has proven to be a change agent and voice for today’s women.
Red Pill Blues is Maroon 5’s sixth studio album (try saying that 6 times fast) and has already recieved platinum certification from the RIAA. The Red Pill Blues album was executive produced by J. Kash and Adam Levine. Like their latest music video, there is no shortage of fame found appearing on these tracks. SZA, Julia Michaels, A$AP Rocky, and LunchMoney Lewis take a moment from their own limelight to step in on Red Pill Blues adding complexities that pound those catchy lyrics further into our heads. The only thing more real than the pictures gracing their album cover are the expressive messages and feel good vibrations found in this new set of songs.
The three-time Grammy® Award-winning multi-platinum band Maroon 5 debuted this new music video just as they embarked on their Red Pill Blues world tour produced by Live Nation a few nights ago in Tacoma, Washington. Joining Maroon 5 will be special guest Julia Michaels; A.K.A. the woman who sings those smooth melodies that help us cope from falling for a bad boy and makes us all feel a little bit better about how we still foolishly miss ‘him’. Take all of the “Girls Like You” and get your Red Pill Blues tour on.
